Notice Issued to Vehicle Owners in Bihar Over Confiscation Proceedings

The Bihar government has issued a public notice to vehicle owners across the state whose vehicles were seized under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016, asking them to appear before the court with supporting evidence in connection with ongoing confiscation proceedings.

According to officials, the notice pertains to vehicles seized in prohibition-related cases. Concerned owners are required to present their case and relevant documents before the competent court on the dates specified in the notice. Failure to do so may result in ex-parte proceedings and confiscation of the vehicles in favour of the state government, as per the provisions of the Act.
The notice has been issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer, Birpur, and is valid from December 15, 2025, to February 28, 2026. Copies of official letters (Letter Nos. 1283 to 1286) related to the proceedings have also been made available for public reference.
Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring due process while enforcing the state’s prohibition laws and urged affected vehicle owners to comply within the stipulated timeframe to avoid legal consequences.
