Hajipur: The Vaishali district administration has announced a major public auction of 121 confiscated vehicles as part of its strict enforcement of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016. These vehicles were seized from illegal liquor operations across multiple police jurisdictions.
The move aims to recover government revenue, with all vehicles being sold on an “as is, where is” basis.
The auction will begin at 12:30 PM at the Pushkarni Auditorium, located within the Collectorate premises in Hajipur. The process will be conducted under the supervision of a special committee formed by the District Magistrate.
Three-Phase Auction Schedule
To ensure smooth participation and disposal of all vehicles, the auction will be held in three phases:
Phase 1: March 12, 2026 (Application deadline: March 9)
Phase 2 (Unsold Vehicles): March 20, 2026 (Deadline: March 17)
Phase 3 (Remaining Vehicles): April 2, 2026 (Deadline: March 28)
Applications must be submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Excise, Vaishali.

The auction includes a wide range of vehicles, such as:
Two-wheelers (Honda, Hero, Bajaj)
Auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws
Cars like Maruti Alto and Renault models
SUVs including Mahindra Bolero, Tata Safari, Scorpio
Commercial vehicles like trucks, pickups, and oil tankers
These vehicles are currently kept at multiple police stations, including Vaishali, Lalganj, Sarai, Bidupur, Raghopur, and the Excise Police Station.
Important: Buyers are strongly advised to inspect vehicles before bidding, as no complaints will be accepted later.
Earnest Money Deposit (EMD): 20% of base price via bank draft in favor of the Superintendent of Excise, Vaishali (payable at SBI Hajipur)
Mandatory Documents:
Aadhaar card (self-attested)
Two passport-size photographs
Notarized affidavit
Payment Rule:
Winning bidders must pay the remaining amount within 7 days, failing which the EMD will be forfeited.
Refund Policy:
Unsuccessful bidders will receive full EMD refund.
Registration & Taxes:
Buyers must handle all taxes and vehicle registration using the sale certificate issued.
Vehicles categorized as “scrap” (due to severe damage or missing chassis details) cannot be re-registered.
Such vehicles must be:
Dismantled on-site
Under supervision of police/excise officials
Transported only after dismantling
All expenses will be borne by the buyer.
Authorities stated that original owners were already notified through legal channels. However, anyone with objections may submit a written complaint before the auction begins.
Vehicles involved in ongoing court cases will be excluded from the auction.
