Gaya/Patna: In a fresh crackdown on illegal liquor transportation, the Court of the Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition, Gaya has issued short-term public notices to vehicle owners whose vehicles were seized under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016 (amended 2022).
Across notices issued between December 23, 2025 and January 22, 2026, details of 19 seized vehicles registered in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Haryana have been published. Officials said the statutory 30-day period since seizure has expired in all listed cases, prompting initiation of confiscation proceedings.
Vehicle owners, claimants or anyone having information about the vehicles have been asked to appear before the confiscation court on:

Authorities warned that failure to appear may result in ex parte (one-sided) confiscation orders.
Proceedings are being initiated under Rule 13(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2022), which requires:
start of confiscation proceedings within 30 days of seizure
final decision within 90 days
reasonable opportunity of hearing for owners or claimants
Vehicles used for transporting illegal liquor are liable to be confiscated by the District Magistrate-cum-Collector.

The notice states that if:
no owner or claimant appears
no penalty-release application is filed
no claim or information is submitted
the confiscation authority may proceed to confiscate the vehicles without further hearing.
Parties have also been advised to inform the court if any related case, appeal or revision is pending elsewhere.
The notices have been issued by the Department of Prohibition, Excise & Registration, Bihar, and published in accordance with the Advertisement Policy, 2016. Any disputes over publication medium will be decided by the department concerned.

The Court of the Assistant Commissioner, Prohibition, Gaya, has issued a short-term notice regarding vehicles seized under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016 (as amended in 2022).
As per Rule 13(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2022:
Confiscation proceedings must begin within 30 days of seizure.
A decision must be taken within 90 days, giving the vehicle owner/claimant an opportunity to be heard.

Fail to appear on the scheduled date,
Do not present any claim, or
Do not apply for release by paying the penalty,
then the Confiscation Authority may pass an ex-parte order to permanently confiscate the vehicles in favor of the State.
Owners or parties with pending cases/appeals related to these vehicles must inform the confiscation court on any working day.
