Nawada to Auction Over 80 Seized Vehicles on Feb 17–18 Under Prohibition Act

Nawada (Bihar):
The Nawada district administration has announced a major public auction of 80+ seized vehicles under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016, scheduled to be held on February 17 and 18, 2026, at the Collectorate premises, officials said.

The vehicles were confiscated in various excise and police cases registered across Nawada district and adjoining police station areas, and will be disposed of through open public bidding.

Two-Day Auction at Collectorate

According to the notification issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Excise, Nawada, the auction will begin daily from 11 am at the district headquarters. The vehicles include a wide range of motorcycles, scooters, cars, SUVs, tempos, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, cycles and scrap vehicles.

Most of the vehicles are currently parked at the old liquor depot and check-posts at Rajauli and Govindpur, as well as at police station yards across the district.

Auction Conditions

The district administration clarified that:

  • All vehicles will be auctioned strictly on an “As Is Where Is” basis

    • Bank draft of EMD in favour of Superintendent of Excise, Nawada, payable at SBI, Nawada

Nawada administration to auction confiscated vehicles on January 30

Nawada:
The Nawada district administration, through the Prohibition and Excise Department, has announced a short-term public auction of confiscated vehicles under the provisions of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016. The auction will be held on January 30, 2026, at the Collectorate, Nawada, starting from 11 am, officials said.

According to the official notification, the vehicles were seized in connection with various police station cases and excise-related offences across the district and were later confiscated following due legal process. After passing state vesting orders, the district magistrate directed the department to complete the auction process in accordance with the law.

The reserve prices of the vehicles range from as low as ₹200 for bicycles to ₹2.40 lakh for a Mahindra tractor, while the earnest money deposit (EMD) varies depending on the category and valuation of the vehicle. Most of the seized vehicles are currently parked at excise depots, police stations, check posts and storage yards within the district, including the old liquor depot at Nawada, Sarai depot, Rajouli check post and Govindpur police station premises.

Inspection and eligibility

Officials said that interested bidders may physically inspect the vehicles at their respective locations before submitting applications. The department has clarified that the auction will be conducted strictly on an “as is where is and as is what is” basis, and no transportation cost will be borne by the administration.

To participate in the auction, bidders are required to submit an application in the prescribed format along with self-attested copies of Aadhaar card, PAN card, character certificate affidavit, and a bank draft of the prescribed EMD in favour of Superintendent of Excise, Nawada, payable at State Bank of India, Nawada. Payment and registration norms

The remaining amount must be paid within two working days, failing which the earnest money will be forfeited and legal action may be initiated. Officials added that the auction committee will issue only an authorisation letter for vehicle registration, while preparation of registration documents and payment of applicable taxes will be the responsibility of the buyer.

Legal clarity and safeguards

The department has clarified that if any vehicle owner has a pending court case or objection, supporting documents must be submitted before the auction date. Vehicles will be auctioned as free from encumbrances, provided no objection is raised by banks or financial institutions before the auction.

The auction committee has also reserved the right to cancel the auction of any or all vehicles without assigning reasons. Authorities have stated that no claims or objections will be entertained after submission of applications or completion of the auction.
