SHEOHAR: The district administration of Sheohar has announced a public auction of 31 vehicles confiscated under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016. The auction is scheduled to take place on January 16, 19, and 21, 2026, at the Collectorate Meeting Hall (Samaharnalaya Sabhakaksh).
The Excise Department has invited applications from interested buyers, with the deadline for submission set for January 14, 2026, by 5:00 PM.
Bikes, Cars, and E-Rickshaws on Offer
The inventory includes a mix of two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and passenger cars seized during anti-liquor drives across various police stations including Sheohar, Piprahi, and Shyamfur Bhataha.
According to the notice issued by the Prohibition Superintendent and the District Magistrate, the reserve prices have been fixed by the Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI).
Lowest Bid: The list includes several "SCRAP" category motorcycles with a base price as low as Rs 2,700.
Highest Bid: A 2024 model E-Rickshaw (seized by Tariyani PS) has the highest base valuation at Rs 90,000.
Key Attractions: Buyers can bid for a 2016 Hyundai Xcent (Base price: Rs 18,000), a 2013 Maruti Alto 800 (Base price: Rs 76,500), and a 2016 Mahindra Alfa Tempo (Base price: Rs 67,500).
Auction Rules and Process
Officials stated that the auction will be conducted on an "Official Notification" basis. To participate, applicants must submit a Demand Draft (DD) worth 10% of the vehicle’s minimum value as a security deposit, payable to the "Prohibition Superintendent, Sheohar."
"Successful bidders must deposit the full auction amount immediately after the bid is finalized. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit and the bidder may be blacklisted," the notice read.
Additionally, winners will have to pay a 3% service charge to the Bihar State Beverages Corporation Limited (BSBCL) over and above the final bid amount. The responsibility for vehicle registration and name transfer lies solely with the buyer.
Inspection and Refunds
Prospective buyers can inspect the vehicles at the respective police stations or storage locations mentioned in the list on any working day. The administration has clarified that the security deposit of unsuccessful bidders will be returned after the auction process concludes.

Vehicles Seized in Liquor Scandal to be Auctioned by Excise Department and Police Stations
Excise Superintendent Umashankar Prasad announced on Friday at 3 PM that the Excise Department, in coordination with all police stations across the district, will be conducting auctions of vehicles that were seized during various liquor-related cases.
According to the Superintendent, a total of 54 vehicles—including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other types of automobiles—confiscated under the liquor scandal will be put up for sale through public auction. The auctions have been scheduled to ensure transparency and participation of interested buyers in Sheohar Bihar.
The Excise Department has finalized the following dates and venue for the event:
October 6, 2025 – 10:00 AM
October 8, 2025 – 10:00 AM
October 10, 2025 – 10:00 AM
All auctions will be held at the Collectorate Assembly Hall, where registered bidders will have the opportunity to participate. The department has urged interested individuals to take part in the process, as it provides an open and lawful platform to acquire vehicles at competitive rates.
The Excise Superintendent further emphasized that the move not only aims at disposing of seized vehicles lying unused in police station premises but also contributes to strengthening revenue for the department.
