The District Collector and Executive Director (Housing), Medchal-Malkajgiri District , has invited the public to participate in an open public auction for 657 vacant commercial shops located in various Telangana 2BHK Housing colonies developed by GHMC. According to Auction Notification No. 47/2BHK/SHOPS/2026 , the auction will be conducted on July 7, 2026 , and July 9, 2026 . The shops will be sold on an "As Is Where Is" basis at the respective Revenue Divisional Offices (RDOs). Interested bidders can participate by submitting the prescribed Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) through a Demand Draft before the commencement of the auction.

Every participant must submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹35,000 through a Demand Draft drawn from any Nationalized or Scheduled Bank in favour of:

In a major push to accelerate affordable housing in Telangana , Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to identify and allocate double-bedroom (2BHK) houses to beneficiaries by the end of May 2026 , irrespective of the construction status. The directive came during a high-level review meeting in Hyderabad , where the minister stressed prioritising houses that are in the final stages of completion .
To support beneficiaries with incomplete homes, the government announced financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh under the Indiramma housing scheme . In cases where contractors fail to complete construction, beneficiaries will be allowed to finish the houses themselves , with funds released through a fast-track “green channel” system . The government will also provide 40 tonnes of free sand , although concerns remain as many beneficiaries are reluctant to shift to locations far from urban centres.
Addressing governance issues, the minister ordered strict action against ineligible occupants , directing district collectors to identify and evict such beneficiaries and reallocate houses transparently with the involvement of MLAs. He also warned against malpractices in 2BHK bill payments , reiterating that poverty must remain the key eligibility criterion . Additionally, the government reaffirmed its stance on protecting government land , calling for action against encroachments and urging joint surveys to resolve boundary disputes between revenue and forest lands , ensuring long-term clarity and preventing future conflicts.
