Pune Municipal Corporation Takes Action Against Tax Defaulters

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is about to publicly sell 32 homes in top-class localities, along with Baner, Balewadi, Lohegaon, and Mundhwa, on February 5. The pass comes in reaction to property tax defaults, totalling Rs 16.02 crore, predominantly in commercial homes.

Defaulters Ignoring Reminders: PMC Empowered to Act

Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar stated that this marks the PMC's first property auction due to non-payment despite repeated reminders. The civic body is exercising its legal powers in this regard.

Initial Auction to Test Market Response

While there are various belongings tax defaulters, the preliminary auction makes a specialty of deciding on excessive-give residences to assess the market reaction. The auction is scheduled to take the region from 12 pm to 3 pm on the PMC's essential building.

Properties on Auction: A Snapshot

The majority of the properties set for auction are from Lohegaon, comprising six shops, two office premises, two open plots, two shops, and a factory shed in Mundhwa. Other listings include three shops from Balewadi, a clubhouse, a building of Pancard Club, and a privately owned plot in Baner. Additionally, there are three office spaces in Kharadi, three shops in Bibwewadi, three shops in Dhayari, one open plot, two flats in Wanowrie, and one shop in Dhanori.

Conditions for Property Owners

PMC's Ajeet Deshmukh clarified that property owners can remove their properties from the auction list by clearing dues before the auction date.

Auction Procedures and Guidelines

Prospective bidders are required to register on [https://eauction.gov.in](https://eauction.gov.in). Each property's valuation has been determined, and the bidding amount cannot be less than the valuator's fixed amount.

Key Dates for Bidders

Bidders must pay 1% of the property amount in advance by January 31. Eligible bidders will be declared on February 4 after completing the necessary official processes. Successful bidders will need to pay 20% of the amount within two days of the auction and the remaining 80% within 15 days.

Repayment for Cleared Dues

  • If the property owner settles the dues and auction costs within 15 days, the bid winner will be refunded the amount deposited with PMC.
  • This initiative aims to enforce timely property tax payments and recover outstanding dues through a transparent auction process
