Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) is planning a new township spread over more than 100 hectares in the Gangapar area , as the city looks to expand its residential infrastructure and meet future housing demand.
The proposed PDA township will come up around the Malaka-Shivgarh area , close to the Ganga Expressway and a National Highway . The location is expected to gain importance as connectivity improves and new residential and commercial activity develops in the region.
The authority has already started looking for suitable land for the project and is preparing to conduct a detailed survey before moving ahead with the next stage.
The proposed township will be developed between Malak Harhar and Shivgarh in the Malaka area of Gangapar .
According to the plan, the proposed site will be around 1 km from the Ganga Expressway and the National Highway , making connectivity one of the major advantages of the location.
The PDA is in contact with landowners in more than 15 villages of Soraon tehsil to identify suitable land. A survey will assess factors such as land availability, total area and other development requirements before any land acquisition process moves forward.

The PDA is not looking at the project simply as a residential colony. The objective is to create a planned township with residential and civic infrastructure designed around future requirements.
The proposed development will include:
The authority intends to reserve land for additional public amenities wherever required. This approach is aimed at ensuring that housing growth in the Gangapar region takes place along with supporting infrastructure rather than through unplanned development.
The township's proposed location near the Ganga Expressway and National Highway is expected to support easier movement between the new development and other parts of Prayagraj and surrounding areas.
Better connectivity could also encourage the growth of markets, shops, commercial establishments and other services around the proposed township in the future.
However, these are potential benefits linked to future development. The township itself is currently at the planning, land-search and survey stage and should not be treated as an already-launched residential project.
The PDA team is expected to conduct a survey between Malaka and Shivgarh to identify land that meets the project's requirements.
The authority has contacted farmers and landowners in over 15 villages in Soraon tehsil . Once the survey establishes the availability and suitability of land, the process for land acquisition can move ahead.
This means the exact township boundary, number of plots or flats, land rates, booking dates and allotment process have not yet been announced in the available information.
The proposed Gangapar township is also linked to the development of Aero City in Prayagraj.
The PDA plans to take forward the Gangapar township after the development process for Aero City reaches the required stage. PDA Vice-President Rishiraj said the authority is working on plans to develop a township around Malaka and Shivgarh over more than 100 hectares.
This sequencing is part of the wider urban expansion strategy being pursued by the authority.
Earlier reports have also highlighted PDA's broader plans for new townships and residential development at multiple locations in Prayagraj under the Chief Minister's urban expansion scheme . These include proposed development around areas such as the airport, Naini, Jhunsi and other parts of the city.
For prospective homebuyers and property investors in Prayagraj , the proposed Gangapar township could become an important future residential growth zone.
Its proximity to major roads, planned civic infrastructure and possible expansion of commercial activity could increase the area's development potential.
However, buyers should wait for an official PDA notification before making any purchase-related decision. Details such as plot sizes, flat categories, prices, registration, eligibility, booking process and allotment dates are not part of the current announcement.
The immediate focus remains on land identification, survey and the subsequent acquisition process .
