Agra — a city globally known for its rich cultural heritage and the iconic Taj Mahal — is now making headlines for something entirely new: a modern, well-planned township designed to redefine urban living in Uttar Pradesh. The Atalpuram Township, currently being developed by the Agra Development Authority (ADA), marks a significant milestone in the city's evolution towards becoming a smart, inclusive, and future-ready urban hub.
Atalpuram is part of the Mukhyamantri Shahri Vistarikaran Yojana, an ambitious initiative launched by the Uttar Pradesh Government under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The project aims to unlock the potential of urban expansion by creating integrated, sustainable townships across the state.
Strategically located along the Agra–Gwalior Road, Atalpuram Township is set to become a vibrant new center of growth and development. The project is being developed on 342 acres of land, directly purchased from local farmers at four times the market rate — an approach that not only ensures transparent land acquisition but also empowers the farming community economically.
Atalpuram Township stands out as a holistic urban development model, combining residential, commercial, institutional, and social infrastructure in a single master-planned layout. Designed around the principles of Smart Cities, the township promises seamless service delivery, efficient infrastructure, and an elevated quality of life.
Total Area: 342 acres
Development Phases: 3
Sectors: 11 planned sectors
Residential Plots: Over 10,430
Group Housing Plots: 18
Non-Residential Plots: 96, including provisions for schools, hospitals, commercial spaces, banks, police station, fire station, and more
Atalpuram is not just a township — it’s a technology-enabled, eco-friendly living environment. A SCADA-based Command and Control Centre will monitor and manage public utilities and services round-the-clock. The township will include:
Underground Multi-Utility Duct Systems
Sewage and Water Treatment Plants
Solar-Powered Street Lights
Efficient Drainage and Waste Management
This infrastructure is designed not just for convenience but also for sustainability and resilience, aligning with India’s urban development goals.
One of the major highlights of the project is a State-of-the-Art International Convention & Exhibition Centre, planned across 12.45 acres. This facility will enable Agra to host global conferences, trade expos, and cultural festivals, further boosting the city's economy and tourism potential.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Atalpuram project is its inclusive approach to development. By acquiring land directly from farmers at a premium price, the project has placed local stakeholders at the heart of progress. Furthermore, the township is being designed to accommodate over 10,000 families across various income levels, ensuring that affordability does not come at the cost of quality.
From single-family residential plots to larger group housing units, the township offers diverse housing options supported by robust community facilities, including:
Healthcare Centers
Educational Institutions
Community Halls
Childcare (Anganwadi) Centres
Green Spaces and Recreational Areas
The total estimated cost of Atalpuram Township is around ₹1,515 crore, and development is being carried out through the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model. A qualified agency has already been appointed to execute the project in a time-bound and quality-assured manner.
Atalpuram represents a new urban philosophy — one that combines tradition with innovation, and social equity with smart infrastructure. It is not just a real estate project but a transformational blueprint for cities like Agra that seek to grow without losing their identity.
For residents, investors, and entrepreneurs alike, Atalpuram presents an opportunity to become part of something bigger: a city that honors its past while building for the future.
