Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao conducted an early morning inspection of various locations under the West Zone of the city corporation on Thursday to review civic administration and public health infrastructure.
During his visit to the Palike Bazaar in Vijayanagar, the Chief Commissioner directed officials to allot 79 air-conditioned shops through a transparent and rule-based e-auction process. He also instructed the appointment of a dedicated revenue officer to monitor and control unauthorized commercial activities around the Palike Bazaar premises.
As part of efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure, Rao inspected several government hospitals. At the Srirampuram Maternity Hospital, he directed officials to expedite the demolition of the old structure and initiate construction of a modern four-storey building with 50 beds.
At the M.C. Layout Multi-Speciality Hospital, officials were instructed to submit a comprehensive report detailing the requirement of doctors, staff, and medical equipment to enable full-fledged operations.
The Chief Commissioner also directed immediate commencement of upgradation works at the Mudalapalya Maternity Hospital, increasing bed capacity from 12 to 30. At Hosakerehalli Maternity Hospital, he instructed officials to complete expansion works from 30 to 50 beds within a stipulated timeline, including construction of a new ramp, pharmacy, emergency department, and operation theatre (OT).
Additionally, Rao inspected the Indira Canteen and its kitchen at Deepanjalinagar and instructed officials to maintain cleanliness and food hygiene standards.
Additional Commissioner Digvijay Bodke, Joint Commissioner Sangappa, Chief Engineer Dr. Raghavendra Prasad, Vishwanath, and other senior officials accompanied the Chief Commissioner during the inspection.

Conducted an inspection of the Indira Canteen and kitchen at Deepanjali Nagar and instructed officials to maintain cleanliness.
On this occasion, Additional Commissioner Digvijay Bodke, Joint Commissioner Sangappa, Chief Engineer Dr. Raghavendra Prasad, Vishwanath, and other officials were present.
