Trichy Police to Auction Nine Condemned Vehicles; Public Inspection Open from June 11

Trichy: The Trichy City Police has announced a public auction of nine condemned and scrap vehicles, offering interested buyers an opportunity to bid on a range of retired police department vehicles, including jeeps, vans and heavy-duty utility vehicles.

According to an official release, the auction will include seven vehicles that were prematurely condemned during their service period and two vehicles retired under normal condemnation procedures.

The list of vehicles scheduled for auction includes a Tata Sumo, MM540 Jeep, Swaraj Mazda, Eicher Vajra, Tata Varun, a Tempo Traveller mortuary van, and other police utility vehicles that have completed their operational life within the department.

Vehicle Inspection Scheduled from June 11 to June 15

Members of the public interested in participating in the auction will be allowed to inspect the vehicles before bidding.

The vehicles will be available for physical inspection at the City Armed Reserve Police Campus in Trichy from June 11 to June 15, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM each day.

Officials said the inspection period has been arranged to help prospective bidders assess the condition of the vehicles before participating in the auction process.

Bidder Registration and Security Deposit Details

Interested bidders must complete registration formalities on the day of the auction. Registration will be conducted between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and participants will be required to produce a valid Aadhaar card as proof of identity.

In addition, bidders must deposit a refundable caution amount of Rs 5,000 to become eligible for participation in the auction.

Successful Bidders to Pay GST and Complete Formalities

Police officials stated that the highest successful bidders will be required to remit the full bid amount along with the applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) before taking possession of the vehicles.

The auction is expected to attract scrap dealers, vehicle recyclers and buyers interested in acquiring retired government vehicles through a transparent public bidding process.

With a mix of utility vehicles, transport vans and police fleet vehicles on offer, the upcoming Trichy police vehicle auction is likely to generate significant interest among auction participants across the region.

 




Tiruchirappalli District Police – Vehicle Auction Notification

Vehicles seized in cases related to illegal liquor sales and for which no ownership claims have been made are scheduled to be sold through a public auction.

By the Tiruchirappalli District Police Department, a total of 13 unclaimed vehicles seized in illegal liquor cases and pending before the court will be auctioned. These include:

  • 10 two-wheelers

  • 2 four-wheelers (Cars – 2)

  • 1 three-wheeler (Auto – 1)

Auction Date & Venue

  • Date: 10.12.2025

  • Time: 10:00 AM

  • Venue: Tiruchirappalli District Collectorate campus

Those wishing to participate in the auction must appear on:

  • 10.12.2025 at 8:00 AM

  • Carry Aadhaar, Driving Licence

  • Pay ₹2,000 deposit for two-wheelers

  • Pay ₹5,000 deposit for four-wheelers

Participants must register by submitting these documents and the advance deposit.

Payment & GST Details

After winning the bid:

  • The full bid amount must be paid within one week.

  • GST is applicable as follows:

    • 12% GST for two-wheelers

    • 18% GST for four-wheelers

All registration, name transfer and subsequent formalities must be completed by the buyer.
