Supreme Court Vehicle Auction 2026: 9 Vehicles to Be Sold Through GeM E-Auction, EMD Fixed at ₹8,000

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has invited online bids for the auction-cum-sale of nine end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Forward Auction Portal. The auction will be conducted on an “as is where is” basis , and only eligible Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) can participate.

The auction notice was issued by the Supreme Court Registry on September 1, 2026 , under Auction ID 39123. The vehicles include Toyota Corolla Altis cars, Ford EcoSport SUVs, a Toyota Innova, a Bajaj auto, an Eicher truck and a Tata Ace.

Supreme Court Vehicle Auction 2026: 9 Vehicles on Sale

The Supreme Court has put nine vehicles under the ELV category up for auction as one consolidated lot. Bidders are required to quote a single consolidated price for the entire lot , rather than individual vehicles.

The contract will be considered for the bidder quoting the highest consolidated total price , subject to the terms and conditions of the auction notice.

Who Can Participate in Supreme Court Vehicle Auction?

The auction is restricted to firms holding a valid Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) certificate under the applicable provisions of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

Bidding will be conducted online for the entire lot of nine vehicles , and the highest quoted rate for the complete lot will be considered.

Participation in the auction will be treated as confirmation that the bidder has inspected the vehicles and relevant documents and is satisfied with their quantity, quality and condition .

Supreme Court Vehicle Auction EMD

Qualified bidders have to deposit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹8,000 through the online mode on the GeM Portal within the specified EMD submission period.

Bids submitted without the applicable EMD will be summarily rejected . The EMD of unsuccessful bidders will be automatically refunded to the source account through GeM after the sale intimation is generated for the successful bidder.

Documents Required for PQ Assessment

Eligible bidders must upload the required documents before the pre-qualification deadline. These include:

  • Annexure A proforma , duly filled and signed
  • Annexure B Tender Acceptance Letter , duly signed
  • Self-attested copy of a valid RVSF Certificate
  • GST Registration
  • PAN Card

All required documents and information must be submitted in accordance with the auction notice.

Vehicle Inspection Details

Interested bidders can inspect the vehicles at the designated location through the Supreme Court Transport Branch.

Inspection will be permitted on working days between 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM , excluding Sundays and public holidays, by prior appointment from September 2 to September 15, 2026 .

Bidders have been advised to inspect the vehicles before submitting their bids because the auction is being conducted on an “AS-IS-WHERE-IS” basis . Requests for inspection after submission of bids will not be accepted.

Payment Rules for Successful Bidder

The successful bidder must pay the final balance sale value , after adjustment of the EMD and including applicable taxes, within 10 days from the date of bid acceptance .

The payment has to be made through a Bank Draft or Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Registrar, Supreme Court of India” , payable at New Delhi.

If payment is delayed, applicable ground rent or charges can be imposed. The notice specifies charges of ₹10 per vehicle per day or 0.5% of the value of the undelivered lot per day , whichever is higher, subject to the applicable conditions.

Vehicles Must Be Scrapped as Per Environmental Rules

The successful RVSF bidder will be responsible for taking possession of the vehicles and transporting them for scrapping at its own cost and risk .

The bidder must ensure that vehicle scrapping is carried out according to applicable CPCB/SPCB environmental guidelines and rules . A Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping has to be furnished within 30 days after lifting the vehicles , as specified in the notice.

The successful bidder will also have to complete all required RTO formalities , including transfer, deregistration and scrapping, at its own cost and in accordance with MoRTH guidelines.

Supreme Court Vehicle Auction: Penalty for Delayed Payment

Failure to make the required payment within the prescribed or extended period can lead to cancellation of the sale and forfeiture of the EMD .

The notice also allows, subject to its conditions, delayed payment for a maximum period of 30 days with interest. The specified interest rate is 7% above the State Bank of India base rate prevailing on the original payment deadline.

If the vehicles are not removed within the stipulated period even after applicable ground rent, the Registry may terminate the contract and order resale of the vehicles, with the money paid by the successful bidder liable to be forfeited under the stated conditions.

Who Can Participate In The Supreme Court Vehicle Auction?

Interested individuals, firms and companies can participate in the GeM Forward Auction , subject to fulfilling the conditions specified in the auction documents.

Bidders must be registered on the GeM Forward Auction platform . They can bid for one or more vehicles , with bidding conducted separately for every vehicle. The vehicle will be sold to the bidder quoting the highest rate for that particular vehicle.

However, officers, officials and staff of the Supreme Court of India and their family members are not permitted to participate in the auction.

What Happens After Winning The Auction?

Successful bidders must complete the vehicle transfer process in their own name according to applicable rules and at their own cost.

The successful bidder must take possession of the vehicle from the Transport Branch, Supreme Court of India , within 10 days of bid acceptance .

Vehicles will be handed over to the successful bidder or an authorised representative after submission of valid identity proof. If a representative is authorised to collect the vehicle, the buyer must provide a suitable power of attorney or notarised authorisation letter for the respective vehicle.

Important Penalty Rules For Buyers

The auction terms contain strict provisions for delayed payment and failure to take possession.

If a successful bidder fails to make the required payment within the stipulated or extended period, the Registry may cancel the sale and forfeit the EMD . The Registry may also recover any incidental or consequential losses resulting from the bidder's failure.

  • Ground Rent: ₹10 per vehicle per day OR 0.5% of vehicle value per day (whichever is higher).

  • Interest on delayed payment: 7% above the Base Rate of State Bank of India.

  • Maximum extension for delayed payment: 30 days.

  • Failure beyond 30 days may lead to:

    • Cancellation of sale

    • Forfeiture of EMD

    • Resale of vehicle

    • Recovery of incidental losses

Transfer & Delivery Conditions

  • Successful bidders must transfer the vehicle in their name at their own cost.

  • Delivery must be taken within 10 days from bid acceptance.

  • Vehicles will be handed over only upon submission of identity proof.

  • If an authorized representative collects the vehicle, a notarized authorization letter or power of attorney is mandatory.

  • No dismantling, resale within premises, cutting, or modification of vehicles will be permitted on-site.

After delivery, the Supreme Court Registry bears no responsibility for the vehicles.

  • The Registry reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids without assigning reasons. Non-compliance with documentation or submission requirements may result in rejection.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India's Registry has announced a forward e-auction of 26 used vehicles , including premium sedans and motorcycles, through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). The auction will be conducted on an " Official Notfication " basis, with all vehicles to be sold individually.

The fleet includes 22 Skoda Superb (2018-19 models) , 1 Honda Civic (2020) , and 3 Hero Splendor motorcycles (2011) that were previously part of the Supreme Court's official use.

The Registry of the Supreme Court of India has issued a Forward Auction-cum-Bid Notice for the sale of 15 used Skoda Superb (1.08 L&K A/T, Candy White) cars , through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal . The auction will be conducted strictly on an " Official notification " basis .

Each car will be auctioned individually and allotted to the GeM-registered bidder who quotes the highest price.
