Supreme Court to Auction 16 Official Vehicles via GeM Portal; E-Bidding from March 18

New Delhi, February 18, 2026: The Supreme Court of India has issued a Forward Auction-cum-Bid Notice for the sale of 16 used official vehicles through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. The auction will be conducted online on behalf of the Registry of the apex court.

The vehicles comprising - 13 Skoda Superb 1.8 L&K Automatic (Candy White) petrol variants registered between March 2018 and September 2019. Odometer readings range from approximately 44,389 km to 86,149 km.
Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) for these cars ranges between ₹18,800 and ₹19,800, depending on the vehicle.

3 petrol-Hero Splendor motorcycles (2011 registration) with odometer readings between 24,533 km and 62,518 km are also listed  - Registration validity: Up to October 2026

Forward Auction Critical Date Sheet

The entire bidding process will be conducted online through the GeM Forward Auction platform as per the following schedule:

Note: The Registry will remain closed from March 2 to March 7, 2026, due to Holi holidays.

Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) Rules

  • EMD must be paid online through the GeM payment gateway within the stipulated schedule.

  • Bids without valid EMD will be rejected.

  • EMD of unsuccessful bidders will be auto-refunded.

  • EMD of successful bidders will be adjusted against the final sale value.

  • EMD may be forfeited in case of breach of auction terms.

Delay, Penalties and Ground Rent

If payment or vehicle removal is delayed:

  • Ground Rent: ₹10 per vehicle per day OR 0.5% of vehicle value per day (whichever is higher).

  • Interest on delayed payment: 7% above the Base Rate of State Bank of India.

  • Maximum extension for delayed payment: 30 days.

  • Failure beyond 30 days may lead to:

    • Cancellation of sale

    • Forfeiture of EMD

    • Resale of vehicle

    • Recovery of incidental losses

Transfer & Delivery Conditions

  • Successful bidders must transfer the vehicle in their name at their own cost.

  • Delivery must be taken within 10 days from bid acceptance.

  • Vehicles will be handed over only upon submission of identity proof.

  • If an authorized representative collects the vehicle, a notarized authorization letter or power of attorney is mandatory.

  • No dismantling, resale within premises, cutting, or modification of vehicles will be permitted on-site.

After delivery, the Supreme Court Registry bears no responsibility for the vehicles.

Registry’s Rights

  • The Registry reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids without assigning reasons. Non-compliance with documentation or submission requirements may result in rejection.
  • The notice has been issued under the authority of Vinod Lakhina, Additional Registrar (AM).

Supreme Court Puts 26 Used Vehicles on Auction via GeM Portal

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India's Registry has announced a forward e-auction of 26 used vehicles, including premium sedans and motorcycles, through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). The auction will be conducted on an "Official Notfication" basis, with all vehicles to be sold individually.

The fleet includes 22 Skoda Superb (2018-19 models), 1 Honda Civic (2020), and 3 Hero Splendor motorcycles (2011) that were previously part of the Supreme Court's official use.

Bidders must be registered on the GeM Forward Auction portal and are deemed to have inspected the vehicles before submitting bids.

Vehicle Prices

Opening prices for the Skoda Superb models range from ₹9.4 lakh to ₹10+ lakh, depending on model and condition. The Honda Civic and Hero Splendor motorcycles are also listed with competitive base values.

Winners must pay the remaining sale amount (after EMD adjustment) within 10 days, and take delivery within another 10 days. Delays may attract ground rent or cancellation of the bid.

The auction is expected to attract significant interest as government-maintained vehicles typically remain in good condition, making this a rare opportunity for buyers of high-end pre-owned cars.
 

Supreme Court of India Announces Forward Auction of 15 Used Skoda Superb Cars via GeM Portal:

The Registry of the Supreme Court of India has issued a Forward Auction-cum-Bid Notice for the sale of 15 used Skoda Superb (1.08 L&K A/T, Candy White) cars, through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. The auction will be conducted strictly on an "Official notification" basis.

Each car will be auctioned individually and allotted to the GeM-registered bidder who quotes the highest price.

  • Transfer & Delivery: Successful bidders must transfer vehicles in their own name at their cost and take possession within 10 days.

  • Restriction: Supreme Court staff and their family members are not eligible to participate.

  • Penalties: Failure to pay or take possession within the stipulated time leads to forfeiture of EMD and resale of the vehicle.
