The Muradabad Development Authority (MDA) is preparing to launch two major housing schemes aimed at expanding residential opportunities in the city — Govindpuram Awas Yojana and Sahyadri Awas Yojana. Both schemes have received layout approval from the MDA board and are now awaiting RERA registration before official launch.
According to MDA officials, if RERA approval is received on time, the Govindpuram Housing Scheme will be launched during the Diwali festive season.
The Govindpuram Awas Yojana is a new residential plot scheme being developed along Delhi Road, covering land in Mangalpura and Manoharpur villages.
Total Area: 47 hectares
Sector: To be launched in Sector 35
Plots: Around 600 residential plots and 20+ commercial plots
The project also includes essential educational facilities such as a Junior High School, an Inter College, and two Nursery Schools within the layout. MDA officials confirmed that the scheme’s file has already been forwarded to RERA for registration and is in the final stage of approval.
The second scheme, earlier known as the Sonakpur Awas Yojana, has been revived and renamed as Sahyadri Awas Yojana. The project was first launched about 11 years ago in Gram Panchayat Sonakpur Dehat, but development was delayed.
Under the revised plan:
Total Plots: Nearly 1,600 residential and commercial plots
Facilities: Schools, colleges, parks, and plots for other public utilities
Legacy: The earlier version of the scheme had 434 registered houses and several developed parks
The revived project aims to create a well-planned, modern township on the outskirts of Muradabad.
Both upcoming housing schemes are located along a 24-meter-wide Maha Yojana Marg, connecting Kat Road to Delhi Road.
This key stretch divides the Muradabad–Delhi railway line, improving connectivity and accessibility to Delhi and nearby industrial areas.
At present, both schemes have been sent to RERA for approval. Once registered, the Govindpuram Awas Yojana is expected to be launched in November 2025 during Diwali, followed by the Sahyadri Awas Yojana later.
MDA is also finalizing the allotment and booking process, which will be announced after RERA’s clearance.

An MDA official said,
“Both housing schemes are designed to meet the growing demand for residential plots in Muradabad. Once RERA approval is received, Govindpuram will be launched immediately, followed by Sahyadri. The Authority is committed to developing modern, well-connected housing sectors for citizens.”
