MHADA to Build 2,543 PMAY Houses in Ambernath; Work Begins in Kohoj Khuntavali, Sivaganganagar Next

The Konkan Board of MHADA has announced a major affordable housing initiative in Ambernath under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). A total of 2,543 new houses will be developed to support economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Out of the total planned units, construction has already started for 1,493 houses at Kohoj Khuntavali. The remaining 1,050 houses will soon begin construction at Sivaganganagar. This development is expected to provide a significant boost to affordable housing availability in the Ambernath region.

According to officials, the Kohoj Khuntavali project includes 617 units for the economically weaker section and 876 units for the low-income group. Additionally, 24 commercial shops are part of the project plan, enhancing the overall infrastructure and convenience for future residents.

The Konkan Board has confirmed that all required environmental approvals for the project were received on June 26, allowing construction work to commence without delays.

This initiative falls under the PMAY (Urban) scheme introduced by the Central Government, aimed at providing “Housing for All” by supporting underprivileged and marginalized communities. Over the past few years, MHADA has successfully completed and allotted several PMAY housing projects in locations such as Khoni, Bhandarli, Gotheghar, Shirdhon, and Virar-Bolingj.

With this new development in Ambernath, homebuyers can expect another opportunity to secure affordable housing through a lottery system in the near future.

Interested applicants are advised to stay updated for official announcements regarding application dates and eligibility criteria.
