Madhubani to Auction Seized Vehicles Under Prohibition Act on Dec 30

Madhubani:
The Madhubani district administration has announced a short-term public auction of vehicles confiscated in excise cases registered under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016, officials said.

According to a notification issued by the Prohibition and Excise Department, the auction will be held on December 30, 2025, at Nagar Bhavan, Madhubani, starting at 11 am. The vehicles have been confiscated following forfeiture orders passed by various courts in excise cases within the district limits.

Officials said the auction will be conducted by the designated auction committee on an “Official Notification” basis. Interested bidders must submit their applications along with the earnest money deposit (EMD) at the office of the Superintendent of Prohibition, Madhubani, by 5 pm on December 29, 2025.

The EMD has been fixed at 25% of the minimum reserve price of the respective vehicle and will be accepted only in cash or through a bank draft drawn in favour of the Superintendent of Prohibition, Madhubani.

The auction includes two-wheelers and four-wheelers, including a motorcycle and a Swift Dzire car, seized in cases linked to Bihar and Maharashtra. Officials said that if any vehicles remain unsold after the December 30 auction, a further auction will be conducted on January 6, 2026, at the same venue. In the subsequent round, the reserve price of general vehicles will be reduced by 20%, while scrap vehicles will be auctioned at 25% of their fixed minimum value, in line with departmental guidelines dated August 4, 2022. Applications for the subsequent auction must be submitted by January 5, 2026.

The successful bidder will have to deposit an additional 3% of the auction amount as a service charge, which will be credited to the Bihar State Beverage Corporation Limited (BSBCL) account through the Superintendent of Prohibition’s office.

Officials said the highest bidder will be required to deposit 50% of the bid amount immediately at the auction venue, with the remaining amount to be paid within seven days. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the deposited amount, re-auction of the vehicle and possible blacklisting of the bidder.

Bidders must be present in person with valid Aadhaar and PAN cards and are advised to inspect the vehicles at the designated custody locations before bidding. The district administration will not entertain any complaints regarding the condition of vehicles after the auction.
