UP Housing Board to Develop 1,323-Acre Township in Mohanlalganj, Nearly 2 Lakh Homes Planned

The Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board (Awas Vikas Parishad) has unveiled plans for a massive township in Mohanlalganj, spanning 1,323 acres with direct connectivity to the Purvanchal Expressway. Officials say the project, situated next to the upcoming Saumitra Vihar housing scheme, will accommodate close to two lakh residential units.

Deputy Housing Commissioner Chandan Kumar Patel confirmed that the land acquisition process is already underway. “Strategic location and expressway connectivity make this township a highly promising destination for homebuyers. Our design ensures a mix of housing, commercial spaces, and open green areas,” he said.

According to the housing board, the township will be developed in two pockets — Pocket-1 (842 acres) and Pocket-2 (481 acres). Land pooling notices have been issued to farmers, and consultations are being held to finalize agreements before full-scale acquisition.

A senior official explained that the planning is based on an estimated density of 750 people per hectare, with an average family size of five. “This translates to about 150 homes per hectare, making the total housing stock nearly two lakh units,” the official said.

Authorities expect strong buyer interest due to the township’s direct link with Lucknow and nearby districts via the Purvanchal Expressway. The project will be formally launched once the required approvals are received. Until then, groundwork related to land pooling and farmer negotiations will continue.
