To provide better accommodation facilities for devotees visiting Tirumala for Lord Venkateswara’s darshan, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated plans to develop an Integrated Township at Alipiri in Tirupati.
The ambitious project is estimated to cost between ₹3,000 crore and ₹4,000 crore and aims to significantly reduce the accommodation pressure on Tirumala.
Currently, 60,000 to 80,000 devotees visit Tirumala every day, with numbers rising to 1 to 1.5 lakh on weekends and peak days. Tirumala has around 7,500 rooms, accommodating only 40,000 to 50,000 devotees, which leads to severe congestion during rush periods. Although Tirupati has large accommodation complexes such as Srinivasam, Madhavam, and Vishnu Nivasam, they can together host only 10,000 to 12,000 devotees. Additional buildings like Achyutam and Sripatham are still under construction.
The proposed Integrated Township will be developed from the Silpa Kalasala campus near Alipiri to the Old Check Post (Garuda Circle). The township will include:
Well-equipped rooms and halls
Locker facilities
Hundreds of bathrooms and toilets
Free Annadanam (food distribution) centers
Private restaurants and shopping complexes
Large parking areas
Spiritual theaters, parks, and an auditorium
TTD plans to provide accommodation for 25,000 to 30,000 devotees in this township, making Tirupati a major accommodation hub for pilgrims and easing the burden on Tirumala.
