TNUHDB Inaugurates 162 New Apartments at Raja Thottam, Kolathur

Sep 03 2025

The Raja Thottam Housing Project, originally built in 1974 under the leadership of Scholar and Former Chief Minister Dr. Kalaignar, had deteriorated over time due to changing weather conditions.

With the guiding principle that people’s welfare comes first, our Hon’ble Chief Minister ordered the demolition of the old, unsafe houses and the construction of new residences. Until the construction work was completed, every family was provided with a relief amount of ₹24,000 to manage their temporary stay elsewhere.

Through the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, in the Kolathur Assembly Constituency, a total investment of ₹27.71 crore was made to build 162 new, modern housing units. This was made possible through the government’s commitment and systematic planning, and completed in a short span of time.

This is not just housing – it is the beginning of a new life.

All the homes are equipped with a safe environment and essential amenities such as:

  • Drinking water supply

  • Electricity

  • Lifts (elevators)

  • Roads

  • Underground drainage

  • Transport facilities

The project has now been completed and was inaugurated by our Hon’ble Chief Minister, making it available for public use.
