Unclaimed Items Auction at RTC on 16th & 17th of This Month

The RTC Cargo Department is preparing to conduct another auction of unclaimed items that were left undelivered. Officials mentioned that such auctions have been held multiple times in the past, where buyers were able to purchase various goods at very low prices.

This time, the auction will be held on September 16th and 17th, according to Greater RTC Assistant Traffic Manager (Logistics) Ishaq Bin Mohammad.

The auction will take place at the JBS Cargo Center from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and anyone can participate directly by attending the venue.

In this round, around 300 different items will be put up for auction, including:

  • 25 Automobile items

  • 10 Electrical items

  • 10 Cloth items

  • 25 Electronics items

  • 10 Household materials

  • 15 Hardware items

  • 10 Industrial spares

  • 195 General items

TGSRTC An auction will be held at Platform No. 14 of JBS for three days starting Wednesday.

The auction will take place daily from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at JBS. Interested participants can join the auction and purchase items at lower prices. The auction will also continue tomorrow and the day after.

Items are being auctioned at 50% to 80% discount

Hyderabad: Bargain hunters in the city could soon walk away with brand-new electronics, luxury garments, or rare finds — all thanks to an unusual auction organised by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC).

Faced with overflowing storage at its cargo hubs, TGSRTC is preparing to sell off hundreds of unclaimed parcels that have been sitting in its warehouses for weeks. Items range from high-end smartphones and smart TVs to silk sarees, books, and automobile parts.

Why so many parcels go unclaimed

At Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) alone, between 400 and 500 shipments go unclaimed every single day, out of the nearly 5,000 received and dispatched.
Officials say the main culprits are wrong delivery addresses, unreachable phone numbers, and customers refusing cash-on-delivery (COD) orders.

Currently, 542 parcels at JBS and 302 at MGBS have crossed the 45-day holding period and are now listed for auction. “Once we confirm no claimant is coming forward, the items are assessed and auctioned,” explained an official from the cargo division.

• Automobiles: 56
• Electrical items: 24
• Clothing: 32
• Electronics: 32
• Household materials: 8
• Hardware items: 6
• Industrial spares: 5
• General items: 379

How the auction works

Before every auction, TGSRTC forms a committee to oversee the process. Parcels are opened, contents checked against shipping records, and then assigned a value. Bidding starts at around 70% of the estimated worth, and the highest bidder gets the item.

Electronics are the most popular category. One recent bidder bought a smart TV worth ₹75,000 for just ₹40,000. But not every lot is as enticing — many parcels contain clothes, medicines, documents, or perishable goods, which often lose value over time. These are eventually discarded under official supervision.
