These offerings, presented at the feet of Lord Ganesha, hold both monetary and spiritual value.
Akshaya Tritiya is considered one of the most auspicious days in Hindu tradition for purchasing gold and silver. It falls on the third lunar day (Tritiya) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Vaishakha.
The festival is deeply rooted in mythology, especially in the epic Mahabharata. It is believed that during their exile, the Pandavas were blessed with the Akshaya Patra, a divine vessel that provided unlimited food, symbolizing endless prosperity and abundance.
Holding the auction on Akshaya Tritiya adds cultural and religious importance, attracting both devotees and investors. Many consider purchasing gold on this day highly शुभ (auspicious), making such auctions especially popular.
Additionally, temple auctions are often seen as an opportunity to acquire sacred items that carry spiritual significance along with intrinsic value.
The temple trust has emphasized that the auction will be conducted in a transparent manner, strictly adhering to government norms. Open participation and prior display of items ensure trust and fairness in the process.
The management committee has appealed to devotees of Shree Siddhivinayak to participate in the auction in mumbai large numbers.
