Saharanpur to Auction 26 Seized Mining Vehicles on January 8

Saharanpur:
The Saharanpur district administration will auction 26 vehicles seized for illegal mining and transportation of minor minerals on January 8, 2026, officials said on Thursday.

According to a public notice issued by the office of the District Magistrate, the vehicles were seized under various police station jurisdictions for violations related to illegal mining. Since the vehicle owners have neither paid the imposed fines nor shown interest in securing their release, the administration has decided to auction them to recover mining department dues.

The auction will be conducted at 2 pm before a committee constituted for the purpose, covering vehicles seized under the Behat and Sadar tehsils of the district.

The seized vehicles include trucks, dumpers, trailers and tipper bodies, some of which have been lying in police stations since September 2023. The reserve prices for the vehicles range from ₹7.20 lakh to ₹30 lakh, depending on the type and condition of the vehicle.

As per the auction conditions, interested bidders must be Indian nationals and submit an e-tender application addressed to the District Magistrate along with required documents such as identity proof, address proof, PAN and Aadhaar details. An earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹50,000 per vehicle is mandatory, to be submitted via bank draft in favour of the District Magistrate, Saharanpur, at least one hour before the auction begins.

Officials said that the successful bidder must deposit the remaining auction amount within three days, after adjusting the EMD. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the earnest money and cancellation of the auction order.

The notice also states that the District Magistrate reserves the right to cancel the auction at any stage without assigning any reason. In cases where the seized vehicles were purchased through bank or company financing, the auction proceeds—after deducting mining penalties—will be transferred to the concerned bank or finance company.

The notification has been issued following orders of the District Magistrate dated December 25, 2025, and is signed by Additional District Magistrate (Finance/Revenue) Salil Kumar Patel.
