The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has invited online applications for 518 residential units under its ‘Swapnapurti’ housing project at Nari in Nagpur. The housing scheme is being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for families belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
Mayor Nita Thackeray announced that applications will be accepted from February 24 to March 31 through the official municipal website.
Under the project, the municipal corporation will construct 1 BHK and 2 BHK flats. The 1 BHK units will have a carpet area of 350.37 square feet, while the 2 BHK units will measure 484.34 square feet. The project is expected to be completed within the next three years.
The cost of a 1 BHK unit has been fixed at ₹13,01,672, while the 2 BHK unit is priced at ₹18,51,748. Eligible beneficiaries will receive a subsidy of ₹2.5 lakh under PMAY, subject to registration on the official PMAY portal.
To apply for the scheme, the applicant must be a resident within the Nagpur Municipal Corporation limits. The annual family income should not exceed ₹3 lakh. The applicant or any family member should not own a house anywhere in India. Registration under PMAY is mandatory to avail of the subsidy benefit.
The housing units have been reserved as per government norms. Thirteen percent of the houses are reserved for Scheduled Castes, seven percent for Scheduled Tribes, and thirty percent for Other Backward Classes. Fifty percent of the units are allocated to the open category, while five percent are reserved for persons with disabilities.
Applications can be submitted online through the official website of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at https://nmcnagpur.gov.in/. The application fee is ₹3,000 for 1 BHK units and ₹5,000 for 2 BHK units. The fee is non-refundable.
The allotment of houses will be conducted through a computerized online lottery system to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.
Apart from the Nari project, the state government has approved the construction of 840 houses in Poonapur and 240 houses in Hudkeshwar. Proposals for 501 houses in Jayatala have been sent to the state government, while a proposal for 450 houses in Keti Nagar is currently under preparation.
The Swapnapurti housing project will include amenities such as a garden and an auditorium. The project will also follow green building standards and incorporate rainwater harvesting systems to promote sustainability and environmental conservation.
