The Mysore Development Authority (MDA) has taken a historic step by deciding to develop a new residential layout, a move that will benefit more than 20,000 people in Mysuru. The decision was approved during an official meeting held today.
The meeting was chaired by District Collector Lakshmikanth Reddy and MDA Commissioner K.R. Rakshit, where several key resolutions related to urban development and housing were discussed.
This marks the first time since the establishment of the Mysore Development Authority that the authority itself will undertake the development of a full-fledged residential settlement.

For the proposed layout, MDA has identified land across multiple survey numbers in the following villages of Ilawala Hobli:
Bommenahalli
Nagavala
Kammarahalli
Doddamaragowda
The authority has decided to acquire land through mutual consent, aiming to convince farmers and landowners rather than proceeding with forced acquisition.
During the meeting, MDA discussed implementing a 50:50 plot allocation model, ensuring a balanced and transparent distribution of residential sites.
Applications received so far: Over 1 lakh
Expected allotments: Around 20,000 plots
Officials clarified that the project is being taken up to address rapid urban growth, increasing population, and housing needs of the homeless.

Authorities confirmed that the location has been finalized, and the next phase will focus on:
Preparing a detailed layout plan
Developing basic infrastructure
Finalizing site allotment guidelines
The initiative has received positive feedback, especially as MDA—formerly known as MUDA and previously surrounded by controversies—has now taken direct responsibility for developing a major housing layout after its rebranding.
The Office of the Special Officer and Competent Authority (IMA & Other Scams) has invited bids for the public auction of seven immovable properties in Mysuru district, attached under the Karnataka Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishments (KPIDFE) Act, 2004.
The auction, scheduled for October 30, 2025, will be conducted online through the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal (https://kppp.karnataka.gov.in) on an “as is where is and whatever there is” basis. The sale has been authorized by the Hon’ble Special Court vide Order No. MISC No. 868/2022.
Interested bidders must submit their Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) and upload bid documents on the KPPP portal by October 29, 2025. Pre-bid meetings were held on October 24, and property inspections (on request) were scheduled for October 27.
The properties, spread across Nanjangud and T. Narasipura taluks, range from agricultural plots to village land parcels, with minimum bid prices starting at just ₹5.85 lakh.
Payments from successful bidders must be made as per the tender’s timelines — 15% of the bid amount within 72 hours of intimation and the balance within 15 days. The Competent Authority will issue sale certificates to the highest bidders after due verification.

Mysuru Development Authority to Auction 300 Residential Plots After Dasara
Mysuru: The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MDA) is set to hold an e-auction of 300 residential plots following the Dasara festival. This initiative aims to make site allocation more transparent and to strengthen the authority’s financial resources.
Buoyed by the positive response to its first e-auction, where some plots received bids higher than anticipated, the MDA is preparing for this second round to meet growing public demand.
Interested participants must register on the official MDA website.
An Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) must be submitted as part of the registration.
Bidding will take place online on specified dates and times.
The highest bidder will be allotted the plot, and payment must be made within the stipulated period to confirm ownership.
The entire auction process is conducted online, eliminating the need for middlemen.
Details such as plot sizes, locations, and reserve prices will be provided before the auction.
This process ensures a fair and direct opportunity for the public to acquire residential plots.
The MDA’s e-auction system reflects its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and public convenience while also consolidating the authority’s financial position.
Mysuru, Sept. 8 – The Mysuru Development Authority (MDA), formerly known as the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), has recorded a revenue of ₹120 crore from its maiden e-auction of residential and commercial sites.
The auction process, which began on July 31 with 200 sites on offer, concluded between August 16 and 26. Out of the total sites, 110 were successfully sold, while the remaining 90 will be re-auctioned in subsequent phases.
Total sites offered: 200
Sites sold: 110
Revenue generated: ₹120 crore
Unsold sites: 90
Auction locations: Srirampura 3rd Stage, Vijayanagar 2nd–4th Stages, Hebbal 1st & 3rd Stages, Devanur 3rd Stage, Kesare 3rd Stage, Dattagalli and Sathagalli
As per auction norms, winning bidders were required to deposit 25 percent of the bid amount within three days, with the balance payable in three months. Upon full payment, MDA will issue title deeds, giving buyers absolute ownership. Since these are outright purchases, there is no lock-in period for resale or transfer.
A 50×80 ft. (4,000 sq. ft.) site in Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 2nd Phase fetched a record ₹9 crore (₹22,500 per sq. ft.). The buyer, liquor merchant Muralidhar, promptly paid the required advance.
A 20×30 ft. (600 sq. ft.) site in the same locality was auctioned for ₹2 crore (₹33,333 per sq. ft.). The bidder has sought an extension to make the initial payment citing personal reasons.
MDA Commissioner K.R. Rakshith confirmed that several sites received only single bids and hence could not be considered under rules. In more than 40 cases, bidders who had initially bid later failed to complete payments, leading to a ₹20 crore shortfall. These sites will also be re-auctioned.
“Intense competition for premium sites drove prices significantly higher than market rates. This is how MDA was able to secure ₹120 crore revenue from just 110 sites,” said Commissioner Rakshith.
