The initiative is expected to benefit middle- and lower-income families looking to secure affordable housing in the region.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
In a major boost for aspiring homeowners across Marathwada, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has rolled out an ambitious five-year plan to construct 5,000 affordable homes in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and nearby areas. The initiative aims to help economically weaker and middle-income families realize their dream of owning a house.
The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Housing Board oversees all eight districts of Marathwada and plays a key role in supplying homes under various income-based housing schemes.
With the city expanding rapidly—fueled by tourism growth, industrial estates such as Shendra, Waluj, DMIC, and increasing private investment—MHADA’s new housing plan is designed to meet the sharp rise in urban housing demand.
To support the five-year development plan, MHADA will utilize its existing land banks in several important locations:
Nakshatrawadi:
10.56 hectares of MHADA-owned land
Additional 5.2 hectares in Survey No. 9
Garkheda:
Around 2.5 hectares
Deolai:
Nearly 10 hectares
These sites will witness phased construction of quality, budget-friendly homes.
MHADA has already initiated multiple housing schemes in the region:
PMAY (Urban) Project, Nakshatrawadi:
Construction of 1,056 flats across 6.4 hectares, with one round of lottery already completed.
20% Integrated Housing Scheme:
21 flats and 18 plots recently offered through lottery.
Chikalthana Housing Cluster:
154 flats made available for sale.
Officials confirmed that 759 units remain unsold from previous projects, and a new lottery for these homes will be announced soon.
MHADA CEO Dattatreya Navale stated that the strong response to recent housing schemes has encouraged the board to commit to constructing 5,000 additional homes over the next five years.
Executive Engineer Sudhakar Bahegawankar further added that all upcoming projects will focus on providing good-quality, affordable homes suitable for the region’s fast-growing population.
