The Goa government’s Majhe Ghar Scheme (Mhaje Ghar Yojana) is gaining strong momentum, with more than 5,000 applications already approved and nearly 3,000 ownership certificates ready for distribution. The initiative aims to provide legal ownership rights to residents living in houses built on government and comunidade land.
As part of the rollout, around 1,000 ownership orders are being distributed to beneficiaries in South Goa at a special event in Margao.
What is the Majhe Ghar Scheme?
The Majhe Ghar Scheme is a housing regularisation program launched by the Goa government to grant legal ownership to people residing in homes built on government or community (comunidade) land.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive a Class I Sanad, which officially recognizes them as legal property owners. This eliminates the long-standing fear of eviction and provides security to thousands of families.
The scheme was introduced in October 2025 and includes amendments that allow regularisation of houses constructed before February 28, 2014.
