New Delhi, Feb 11, 2026:
The Enforcement Branch of the Transport Department, Government of National Capital Territory (GNCT) of Delhi, has moved to formally initiate the process for e-auction of around 760 impounded vehicles, directing the Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) to publish a public notice in leading Hindi and English newspapers.
In an official communication (No. EO/HQ/ENF/TPT/E-Auction/2025/18) dated February 2026, the Transport Department wrote to the Director, Directorate of Information & Publicity, Old Secretariat, seeking publication of the public notice in two leading newspapers — one Hindi and one English — in appropriate size at the earliest.
OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION
According to the letter, the cost of publication will be borne by the Directorate of Information & Publicity, while the Enforcement Branch has been authorised to proceed with the e-auction process after publication.
Copies of the order have also been sent to:
The Deputy Director (IT Branch) to upload the public notice on the Transport Department, GNCTD website, and
The Deputy CGM (IT), Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to upload the notice on the DTC website.
The public notice warns that the vehicles were impounded under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and are currently lying at Burari Pit, SKK Pit and Dwarka Pit. Owners have been given 15 days from the date of publication to complete formalities and secure the release of their vehicles.
To reclaim vehicles, owners must:
Produce the Registration Certificate (RC)
Obtain government dues clearance from the Enforcement Branch
Pay applicable parking and penalty charges
Failure to comply within the deadline will lead to the vehicles being disposed of through e-auction without any further notice, with proceeds adjusted against government dues.
Officials said the list is dominated by two-wheelers, followed by auto-rickshaws (TSR), private cars, light goods vehicles (LGV) and a few tractors and taxis. The registrations include vehicles from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Transport officials said hundreds of impounded vehicles have been lying unclaimed for months, choking space at enforcement yards and causing logistical issues.
“Repeated notices were issued earlier as well. The e-auction is being taken up to clear long-pending vehicles and recover government dues,” a senior enforcement official said.
