Chandigarh to Launch Year-Long E-Auction Calendar for 120 Properties (2026–27)

The Chandigarh Administration is planning a major reform in property auctions by introducing a structured annual e-auction calendar for the financial year 2026–27. This initiative aims to bring transparency, predictability, and better participation in property auctions across the city.

The proposal has been submitted to Gulab Chand Kataria for approval. Once cleared, a detailed schedule will be officially released for public access.

Key Highlights of Chandigarh E-Auction 2026–27

  • Around 120 properties to be auctioned in total
  • Includes:
    • 40 Residential Plots
    • 40 Commercial Sites (Booths & SCOs)
    • 40 Industrial Plots
  • Auctions will be conducted in 4 phases (quarterly basis)
  • First phase begins on May 15, 2026

This structured approach will eliminate the need for repeated notifications and allow buyers to plan their investments in advance.

Phase-Wise Auction Schedule

The auctions will be conducted in four cycles across the financial year:

Phase Timeline Key Details
Phase 1 April – June 2026 Starts from May 15
Phase 2 July – September 2026 Next batch of properties
Phase 3 October – December 2026 Continued rollout
Phase 4 January – March 2027 Final phase

Residential Plots in Prime Sectors

The residential plots included in the auction are located in some of the most sought-after sectors of Chandigarh, such as:

  • Sector 15
  • Sector 20
  • Sector 21
  • Sector 23
  • Sector 27
  • Sector 28
  • Sector 30
  • Sector 37
  • Sector 40
  • Sector 44

Plot sizes range from 4 marlas to over 2 kanals, making them suitable for both small buyers and premium investors.

Buyers will also get the opportunity to inspect the sites before bidding, ensuring informed decision-making.

Commercial & Industrial Opportunities

Apart from residential plots, the auction will also include:

  • Commercial Properties: Booths and SCO (Shop-cum-Office) units
  • Industrial Plots: Located across Phase I, II, and III of the Industrial Area

These offerings are expected to attract business owners, investors, and industrial players looking for expansion opportunities.

Reserve Price & Transparency

  • Reserve prices will be finalized after administrative approval
  • Entire process will be conducted via e-auction system
  • Designed to ensure fair, transparent, and competitive bidding

Officials believe that a pre-announced calendar will help participants prepare financially and strategically.

Strong Response Expected After Previous Success

The move comes after the success of previous auctions, where:

  • 13 residential plots generated ₹168.85 crore
  • This was more than double the reserve price of ₹75.29 crore

Such strong performance indicates high demand for Chandigarh properties, especially in prime sectors.

Why This Initiative Matters

This is a significant shift in how government property auctions are conducted:

  • ✔ Predictable schedule for buyers
  • ✔ Reduced uncertainty and last-minute announcements
  • ✔ Better planning for investors
  • ✔ Increased transparency in the system

According to officials, this model will allow participants to choose auction phases based on their convenience and financial readiness.

With a structured calendar, premium locations, and a transparent e-auction system, Chandigarh’s upcoming property auctions are expected to see strong participation from both end-users and investors.

If you are planning to invest in government-backed properties, this could be one of the most organized opportunities in 2026–27.
