Over 100 Seized Vehicles to Go Under the Hammer in Bihar

Kishanganj/Bihar:
In a major crackdown on prohibition-related offences, the district administration has announced the auction of over 110 confiscated vehicles seized under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016.

According to the official notice issued by the Collectorate, the vehicles - ranging from motorcycles and cars to trucks and tractors - were seized in connection with liquor smuggling and illegal transportation cases registered across various police stations in the district.

The auction will be conducted as per statutory provisions, and interested bidders have been invited to participate after depositing the required Earnest Money Deposit (EMD). The list includes detailed information on vehicle registration numbers, case references, reserve prices and current status.

Officials said the move is aimed at clearing long-pending seized assets and generating revenue for the state while reinforcing strict enforcement of prohibition laws.

“Only eligible bidders complying with the auction norms will be allowed to participate,” an official statement said.

The full list of vehicles and auction terms is available at the district office and on the official notice board.

The Excise Department’s auction of seized vehicles concluded successfully on Thursday at Rachna Bhawan, generating approximately ₹5 lakh in revenue for the government. The event was conducted under the directives of District Officer Vishal Raj and supervised by DDC Sparsh Gupta along with Excise Superintendent Devendra Prasad.

A total of 85 impounded vehicles, including two-wheelers and cars, were put under the hammer. Of these, 36 were sold, while the remaining await future proceedings. The Excise Department confirmed that all transactions were carried out with full transparency, and only registered applicants from earlier rounds were eligible to participate.

The auction drew interest beyond district boundaries, with bidders traveling from neighboring regions. Inside Rachna Bhawan, strict entry protocols were enforced—only authorized bidders were allowed in, while their supporters waited outside. Enhanced security measures ensured an orderly process.

Post-auction, officials initiated the necessary documentation to formalize the transfer of ownership for the vehicles sold. According to Excise Superintendent Devendra Prasad, the successful completion of the auction not only added to government revenue but also demonstrated the department’s commitment to fair and accountable asset disposal.
