Anantapur: In a significant move aimed at boosting affordable housing in Andhra Pradesh, the Anantapur-Hindupur Urban Development Authority has announced a new scheme that will allow the general public to purchase flats at affordable rates within its jurisdiction.
The decision was taken during a key AHUDA meeting chaired by T.C. Varun, with participation from Vice-Chairperson Vishnu Charan and Secretary Ramakrishna.

Officials said the newly proposed housing scheme is designed to support middle and lower-income groups, making it easier for them to own homes in rapidly developing urban regions like Anantapur and Hindupur.
Alongside the affordable flats initiative, the authority has also decided to intensify efforts toward the development of residential and commercial layouts, signaling a broader push toward planned urban expansion. This dual strategy is expected to not only address housing demand but also enhance infrastructure and economic activity in the region.
Urban development experts believe that such schemes by authorities like AHUDA play a crucial role in bridging the housing affordability gap, especially in tier-2 cities where demand is steadily rising.
