Agra Development Authority to Launch Narmadapuram Township

Feb 10 2026

The Agra Development Authority (ADA) is set to take a major step in the expansion of the city with the proposed launch of the Narmadapuram township under the ambitious Greater Agra project. The township is expected to be launched in April of the next financial year, 2026–27, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath likely to inaugurate the project.

The Greater Agra project is being developed across 449.65 hectares of land in Rampur and Rahan Kalan villages. As part of the planned development, ADA is creating 10 integrated townships, of which five have already received tenders for internal development works. Contractors have been finalized for internal development in Narmadapuram and Gangapuram, marking significant progress on the ground.

According to ADA officials, internal development is a prerequisite before the townships are registered with the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA). So far, the authority has distributed around 43% compensation to affected farmers and landowners.

Three-phase development plan

The development of the townships and the 45-metre-wide main road connecting Rampur and Rahan Kalan will be carried out in three phases. After Narmadapuram and Gangapuram, tenders have also been issued for internal development of Mahanadipuram, followed recently by Sindhupuram and Yamunapuram. A tender for another township is expected to be released soon.

Among the proposed townships, Yamunapuram will be fully commercial, while Kaveripuram will include three residential service-sector plots and one commercial plot.

Mixed-use township with modern amenities

The Greater Agra project is planned as a mixed land-use development, offering residential, commercial, institutional, and public utility spaces. Along the main road, 164 mixed-use plots have been earmarked. The overall layout includes:

  • 39 group housing plots

  • 15 commercial plots

  • 33 market and vending zone plots

  • 9 primary schools and 9 inter colleges

  • 9 police stations and 9 help centres

  • 9 community centres and 9 PSP (public/semi-public) plots

In terms of housing, ADA proposes around 763 residential plots in Narmadapuram and 975 residential plots in Gangapuram, creating substantial opportunities for homebuyers and developers.

Boost to Agra’s urban growth

With its large scale, phased execution, and focus on mixed-use planning, the Greater Agra project is being seen as a major push toward planned urban expansion and modern infrastructure in the region. ADA officials said the townships are expected to be formally launched in the new financial year, bringing Agra closer to its vision of a well-planned metropolitan extension.

The launch of Narmadapuram is being viewed as a key milestone in transforming Greater Agra into a modern, well-connected urban hub.
