85 New Residential Flats Under Elliespuram Housing Scheme

Aug 23 2025

The Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) has launched construction of 85 new residential flats at Elliespuram, with a project cost of ₹15.29 crore.

The scheme has its roots in 1974, when 71 housing units were originally built across four two-storey blocks to provide affordable homes for urban families. Over time, these buildings deteriorated and were eventually demolished.

The upcoming flats are designed to offer improved living conditions. Each unit will span 410 square feet and feature a multipurpose hall, bedroom, kitchen, and toilet. The site will also include key infrastructure such as internal roads, drinking water supply, underground sewerage, and rainwater harvesting structures.

Officials noted that the new development is part of TNUHDB’s ongoing efforts to improve urban housing and create sustainable communities.
