Managing property records in Bengaluru has long been a cumbersome process, involving paperwork, delays, and risks of fraud. To simplify and digitise this, the Karnataka government and BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) launched the e-Khata project on October 1, 2024, starting with Bengaluru.
The e-Khata brings property ownership, tax, and transaction records onto a single digital platform. It aims to:
End fraudulent land/flat transactions
Improve transparency in property dealings
Ensure timely property tax collection
Offer faster, hassle-free citizen services
e-Khata is the digital version of a property’s Khata certificate, issued online through BBMP’s E-Aasthi system. It allows property owners to:
Verify ownership records
Pay property tax online
Access and download property details anytime
Obtain legally valid digital certificates
